“Parting Words” Screenings At Long Island Film Festival

THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE
LONG ISLAND FILM FESTIVAL

Directed by “Cost of Living” Filmmaker Stan Schofield

Opening Night at Montauk Theatre on September 6th
Additional Screenings Include New York City and Los Angeles

New York, NY (August 4, 2008) – Marking the 25th anniversary of the Long Island Film Festival, “Parting Words” an award-winning feature film by Stan Schofield (“Cost of Living”), will be screened opening night on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Montauk Movie Theatre.  A special Q&A with the director will immediately follow the screening.  As part of the “Montauk To Manhattan To Hollywood” theme at this year’s festival, “Parting Words” is scheduled for eight film screenings including three nights in NYC and one night in Los Angeles.  The festival will wrap up with a screening in Los Angeles in November.

“Parting Words” will be shown throughout September and October in theatre locations across Long Island including the Montauk Theatre, Merrick Cinema, Sayville Movie Theatre and Clearview Cinemas in Babylon.  In October, the film will have NYC screenings to be held one night in Douglaston and Brooklyn Heights, and followed by a screening at the Tribeca Grand in Manhattan.  A November screening will be held in Los Angeles when the festival proceeds to the west coast.  Additionally, Schofield will be part of a special Director’s Panel event taking place at a select screening location.  Detailed screening locations, dates and times will be revealed one month prior to the opening night.

The film has already received 5 nominations during the 2008 Hoboken Film Festival and took home the awards for “Best Director” and “Best Actress.”

“Parting Words” - Synopsis
This dark comedy follows the dysfunctional relationship of childhood friends Vince, Nick, and Eddie and their wild and beautiful gal-pal Laura. When an intoxicated Laura gets the pot boiling with a shocking revelatory toast at her friend’s wedding, everyone’s lives are dismantled, reassembled and certainly forever changed.  Forced onto an emotional rollercoaster filled with love, secrets, gossip, betrayal and turmoil these 30-something friends must evaluate their relationships and question whether there is anything left worth saving.

Beautifully shot in HD24P, “Parting Words” is one of the pioneering digital-era features.   Produced on location in Hoboken, New Jersey and the surrounding areas, the cast and crew were assembled from the local New York City talent pool including its starring cast: Elizabeth Regan, Joe Narciso, Nicholas Giordano, Stephanie Kurtzuba and Kevin Kash.

About The Director:
Stan Schofield is an award-winning commercial film director with over 20 years under his belt. His strong storytelling skills and ability to extract real and natural performances from talent have made his work stand out amongst an ever-growing pool of commercial filmmakers.  In addition to music videos, a documentary for Special Olympics, short stories for PBS, and commercials for clients such as The American Cancer Society, American Medical Association, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of California.  He has also directed two award-winning feature films, “Cost of Living” and “Parting Words”.

Stan produced and directed “Cost of Living” starring Andrew Lowery, Bill Sage and Emmy® and Golden Globe ® Winner Edie Falco. An edgy film about a female drifter and con artist, “Cost of Living” made the rounds of the independent film festival circuit in the summer of 1997 receiving widespread recognition and awards including “Best First Feature” “Studio Prize” and “Best Actress” for Edie Falco at the AFI International Film Festival in Los Angeles. The film was later purchased by Showtime and aired in the Fall of 2002.

About The Screenwriter:
Ned Crowley is a Chicago-based screenwriter, playwright and author.  He has been involved with Parting Words from its initial story development through final production. He and Stan first began working together years ago in the world of advertising.  “Parting Words” is his first independent feature. He currently has several screenplays under option. Ned is currently chief creative officer of McGarry Bowen Advertising, Chicago.
