NEW YORKERS PREPARE FOR THE FOURTH INSTALLMENT OF WATER GUN TOURNAMENT

StreetWars Returns to NYC and Launches
End-Of-Summer Water Gun Fight in
Union Square on Saturday, August 23rd

“I miss Mikey B. and want to do something big to impress him.”
- The Supreme Commander

New York City (August 6, 2008) – It’s not over yet!  There’s still a few weeks left of summer and to stir things up, the Shadow Government has announced the return of the city’s most anticipated non-lethal water gun assassination tournament.  After hosting the tournament in Chicago, San Francisco, Paris, London, Los Angeles and Vienna, Franz Aliquo (AKA “Supreme Commander”) and his cohort Yutai Liao (AKA “Mustache Commander”) are bringing StreetWars back to where it all started. NY is gearing up for another three-week guerilla-style operation and its mission to get everyone soaking wet.  To officially kick off fourth installment of StreetWars in New York City, an unprecedented Water Gun Fight will commence in Union Square on Saturday, August 23, 2008.

In a rare public appearance, the “Supreme Commander” will be on hand to observe skills, make notes, and recruit water gun assassins at the corner of Union Square West and 14th Street, where the Water Gun Fight will take place.  Those who wish to participate will be required to wear a StreetWars sticker and have a visible “weapon” in order to distinguish players from non-participants.

“New York City has cleaned up, people have lost the fire they once had, the streets that spawned art movements, fashion and hip hop have lost their flavor, people have become complacent and have started settling for life rather than working for it - Wake up. Go to work. Have a drink at local bar. Go home. Eat. Watch TV. Go to sleep. Repeat. Is that what life in NYC has become?” said The Supreme Commander. “Creativity has gone down, gentrification up. I have become disillusioned with the city that created me. I look at the faces of New Yorkers and gone is the fire, the attitude that once defined them, replaced by a vaguely lost look, like a tourist in their own city. NYC is not NYC anymore, it is a mere shell of its former self…” he added.

He continues, “The city is a playground for adults. We kinda forgot about that. Took for granted the city we live in. Like a toy you put away for years and then stumble upon again, it is time to get reacquainted with the city, what it can do and how we can use and enjoy it. The city can be a huge playground for us to run around and have fun in. We have sandboxes, grass, mazes, slides, monkey bars, zip lines, we just have to learn to see them again. I‘m hoping to help make that happen.”

Players can sign up for this year’s game online at www.streetwars.net and can register as individuals or as a team. Before the game begins all players will receive a secret pick-up time and location where they are given official rules and a dossier on their target: name, home address, work address, and picture.  The rest is up to the players.  Past players have found very creative ways of taking out their targets by using disguises, hatching dastardly plans, posing as deliverymen, and more. The object is quite simple: wet before getting wet. The Supreme Commander describes it as “a chance to live for three weeks in an action movie”. There are designated safe zones but players should be prepared to “live in fear” for three weeks.  If the game is not over by Midnight, Sept 29th, players should expect a one-week sudden death tournament where they could face off with the Supreme Commander and his rogue assassins.

The Supreme Commander explains why he created the game, “I wanted to create a moment of life concretely and deliberately constructed by the collective organization of a unitary ambiance and a game of events.”

Agent Oates, a 2006 NYC player described his experience, “When I saw a hand reach for the button to close the doors, I side-stepped and shot him once in the chest. That was the first time I ever laid eyes on Hebrew Hammer, when he was dead.” Agent Drool of the 2007 London tournament exclaims, “Once again disguised to suit, shall we say a slightly more affable area, I identified the subject on route to work, walking as if in a daze, totally unaware to the fact they were being targeted. They receive three to the chest. Quick. Clean. Noble. Deadly.”

Bragging rights and cash prizes to the winner. Creativity and skills are rewarded with additional prizes for “Best Kill” and “Most Kills”.  Deadline date to sign up for StreetWars is August 29th.
