THE EAST COAST’S LARGEST ANIMATION FESTIVAL FEATURING OVER 80 SHORTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD IN THREE DAYS INVADES BROOKLYN JULY 24TH

ANIMATION BLOCK PARTY 2009 LINEUP

 

WHAT:  Animation Block Party – the largest Animation Festival in the East Coast returns this summer for its sixth year with five programs and over 80 films.  The three-day festival opens Friday, July 24 – Sunday, July 26. Each of the five individual programs screening at ABP 2009 will have it’s own unique taste featuring all genres of animation, from traditional shorts to experimental works.

The award categories in ABP 2009 are: Minute Movie, Best In Show, Original Design, Music Video, Narrative Short, Audience Award, Student Film, Computer Animation, Experimental and Documentary Short.

Prizes awarded for Animation Block Party winners include: Adobe After Effects program, Toon Boom Studio program, Boinx I-Stop Motion program, Crumpler design bags, complimentary subscriptions to Animation Magazine, cool DVDs and the winner of Best Student film will receive a special Production Grant. This summer's jury includes animation director, JJ Sedelmeier, Perfectland creator, Ben Meinhardt, Disney designer, Dan Haskett and NYU animation's Elizabeth Morringello.

Diverse Screenings of World Premieres, International Cartoons, Fan-Friendly Blips and will begin with live music from Teengirl Fantasy.

After-Party @ 11:30pm Matchless (557 Manhattan Ave, at Driggs, Bklyn) featuring FREE BEER, courtesy of Raderberger Pilsner

Saturday, July 25, 2009 at BAMcinématek (30 Lafayette Ave, Bklyn)
Two programs with encore screenings for optimal viewing pleasure.

2:00pm, Program One features Experimental Animation, Fresh Music Videos and Subversive Design works – encore @ 6:50pm.

4:30pm, Program Two will showcase Exceptional Student Films, Professional Content and Narrative Shorts – encore @ 9:15pm.

After-Party @ 9:30pm till close the Fourth Avenue Pub (26 4th Ave) featuring FREE Budweiser.

2:00pm, Program Three will feature Award-Winning Independent Shorts, Studio Animation and other Standout Works – encore @ 6:50pm.

4:30pm, Program Four will present Global Films, New York Premieres, and Local Animations – encore @ 9:15pm.

After party @ 9:30pm till close Habana Outpost (757 Fulton Street, Bklyn) featuring streaming videos, FREE Six Point Ale, and delicious Habana corn.
