CJ ENTERTAINMENT TO DISTRIBUTE ACCLAIMED KOREAN DVD RELEASE TITLES IN NORTH AMERICA

“The Divine Weapon” To Be First Title Released Under New Agreement

Available on DVD Beginning November 2009

New York City (September 3, 2009) – As part of continuing efforts to distribute compelling independent films onto home video, Virgil Films & Entertainment has partnered with Korea’s leading entertainment company, CJ Entertainment.  The acquisition agreement begins with the North American distribution rights to 17 never-before released film titles that will be made available throughout 2009 and 2010.  Some of the highly acclaimed Korean films to be released by Virgil Films include: The Divine Weapon, Portrait of a Beauty, Modern Boy, Voice of a Murderer, My Wife Got Married; and Venus & Mars, just to name a few.  The announcement was made today by Joe Amodei, President of Virgil Films & Entertainment and Greg Park, President of CJ Entertainment America.  The first film to be distributed under the new agreement is the historical action film The Divine Weapon, directed by Kim Yoo-jin, will be available on DVD as soon as this Fall, November 2009.

As the first film to be released onto DVD by Virgil Films, The Divine Weapon (2008) is a period drama/action film starring Jung Jae-young, and Huh Joon-ho.  Other films include: Our Town; May 18^th; My Son; Soo; Voice of a Murderer; Righteous Ties; One Upon a Time in the Battlefield, and others to be announced.

CJ Entertainment has produced internationally acclaimed films since 1997 such as: Sympathy for Lady Vengeance by Director Park Chan-wook; Memories of Murder by Director Bon Joon-ho (The Host); and this year’s film festival favorite Thirst, also by Park Chan-wook.

Virgil Films & Entertainment distributes DVD product in the theatrical feature film, documentary, special interest, and sports categories through partnerships with Sundance Channel Home Entertainment, ESPN and MLB Productions among others.   The company recently partnered with B-Side Entertainment earlier this year.
