– NY Times Critics’ Pick A. O. Scott

Brooklyn, NY —  Get up, get down and put it on.   Look out for the hottest retro concert tee, “Zaire 74,” featured prominently in the “instant classic,” (Variety, July 2009) SOUL POWER a documentary concert film to be released on DVD by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment on January 26, 2010. The Zaire ‘74 design is seen throughout the film, and worn by crew and musicians alike such as James Brown, Bill Withers and more.  The SOUL POWER DVD will include a merchandise insert for exclusive Zaire ‘74 and Soul Power Gear.

“We’re bringing old good things back to life.” Says designer Deborah Goldstein who is also niece to festival and music producer Stewart Levine. “Like any great concert, we want a memento. The Zaire ‘74 design is just that thing.”

In 1974, the most celebrated American R&B acts of the time James Brown, BB King, Bill Withers, Celia Cruz, Miriam Makeba, and more joined the most renowned musical groups in Southern Africa for a three day long concert held in Kinshasa, Zaire dubbed “Zaire ‘74″. The dream of musician Hugh Masekela and producer Stewart Levine, this festival became a reality when combined with “The Rumble in the Jungle,” the epic fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman previously chronicled in the Academy-Award-winning documentary film “When We Were Kings.”

Soul Power, directed by Jeffrey Levy-Hinte and released by Sony Pictures Classics, is a verité documentary, entirely composed of footage shot at the legendary music festival and captures the unbridled glory of the performances.

On front - artwork originally created for Zaire ‘74.  On back - the “new classic” Soul Power.  Designed to look and feel like your favorite old tee.  Super soft, high quality hand printed, distressed-treated hems.  And in the “new vintage” 100% Organic Cotton Tee manufactured from wind powered energy sources.

Fashionable hats available and more.
