Chow Down
An Exposé on America’s Number One Killer
DVD Slated for July 2010 Release
New York City (April 29, 2010) - Along the same vein as Super Size Me, The Future of Food, and Food Inc, Virgil Films & Entertainment is taking an initiative to keep America healthy. The company has announced the acquisition of Chow Down, a thought-provoking documentary tackling the country’s #1 leading cause of death. The deal includes North American distribution rights of the DVD and is slated to be released July of 2010. The announcement was made today by Joe Amodei, President of Virgil Films & Entertainment.
Featuring in-depth conversations with many leading medical experts in the country including Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr., MD, Neal Barnard, MD, T. Colin Campbell, PhD, and David Katz, MD, MPH, to name a few, Chow Down hones in on cardiovascular disease and unearths astounding causes, substantiated prevention methods, and even ways to reverse the deadly disease with simple food choices.
“This is a very informative exposé which presents real cases with proven tactics and solid expert advice from great medical leaders,” says Amodei. “With the revelations in Chow Down, everyone can reduce the risk of heart disease, even those in late stages.”
“We set out to make a documentary that separates food fact from food fiction and wanted to know why, in the 21st century, chronic diseases account for 70 percent of deaths in America,” says co-director/co-producer, Julia Grayer. “Chow Down is the result of this journey and we are thrilled that Virgil Films believes in our entertaining and informative documentary.”
Co-directed and produced by Julia Grayer and Gage Johnston, the documentary uncovers the three factors that fatally impact our country’s health: the medical community’s allegiance to the status quo, the government’s allegiance to the food industry, and American’s allegiance to the cheap, convenient food.
