A decades-old unsolved murder of a young girl bears an eerie resemblance to the recent disappearance of a 13-year-old, sparking a harrowing investigation into the mystery of the seemingly parallel crimes in THE SILENCE, the startling new crime thriller by debuting feature filmmaker Baran bo Odar.

Based on the 2001 novel by Rachel Seiffert, LORE was nominated for 8 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards, including Best Film, Best Direction and Best Young Actor (Saskia Rosendahl), and was Australia’s official selection for the 2013 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The documentary short-film by director Gillian K. Willman, resurrects the incredible odyssey of Annie “Londonderry” Kopchovsky, a daring entrepreneur, athlete, and celebrated globetrotter, and introduces her, for the first time in 119 years, to American audiences. The evening is co-sponsored by Docs in Progress and the Washington Area Bicyclists Association.

Inspired by a remarkable true story, ANY DAY NOW chronicles a gay couple who take in a teenage boy with Down Syndrome and has been abandoned by his drug-addicted mother, only to then wage a battle against a biased legal system that wishes to end the unconventional living arrangement and tear the teenager from the only stable environment he has ever known. Alan Cumming (Burlesque, TV’s “The Good Wife”,) and Garret Dillahunt (Looper, TV’s “Raising Hope”) star in ANY DAY NOW, a powerful tale of love, acceptance and family directed by Travis Fine.
