Portland, OR (January 26, 2010) – During a time of crisis, most people turn to their faith in search of hope and comfort, and while some communities are coordinating relief efforts, others are pointing fingers and condemning victims. Public expression of faith stirs up more controversy than inspiration, and following most recent examples of the tragedy in Haiti, the critically acclaimed documentary, LORD, SAVE US FROM YOUR FOLLOWERS is returning to theatres with the support of Salem Radio Networks.

Writer/Director, Dan Merchant, is putting on his bumper-sticker-clad jumpsuit once again while asking America to stop yelling at each other, and start conversing with one another. With tactful use of humor, his mission to get beyond the superficial bickering certainly got people thinking, and the film was awarded “Best Spiritual Documentary of 2008” by Beliefnet.com. Praised by USA Today as, “A humorous and heartfelt examinations of the culture wars”, LORD, SAVE US FROM YOUR FOLLOWERS opens in theatres, February 26th.

After a successful run in 15 cities, Salem Radio Networks proudly presents another limited theatrical release of the powerful documentary in over 13 cities. There will also be a special sneak-preview tour with Dan Merchant in each opening city throughout the month of February. The film will make a number of new theatrical debuts including New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Washington, DC, San Francisco, Seattle, Cleveland, Minneapolis, and many others.

In addition, and to help kick off the highly anticipated DVD debut on April 20th, “Lord, Save Us TV – The Conversation,” a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, with comments, conversations, and audience reaction will premiere on Trinity Broadcasting Network, as well as an online premiere on the faith-based, family friendly network, Tangle.com.

The documentary features exclusive interviews with Senator Al Franken, former Senator and religious right ally Rick Santorum, NY Times best-selling author, William Paul Young (The Shack), noted liberal evangelical Tony Campolo, conservative radio host Michael Reagan and racial reconciliation activist Dr. John Perkins, as well as news clips of Bono, Bill Maher, Bill O’Reilly, Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart, George Clooney, Pastor Rick Warren (The Purpose Driven Life), and evangelists James Dobson, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. Balanced with humor and insight, the film leaves no stone unturned in presenting a refreshingly amicable examination of religious warfare and the numerous hot-button issues that come along with it.

Variety said of the film, “Admirably bold…It would take a hard heart indeed not to be moved.” Chicago Sun Times proclaimed, “Lord, Save Us aims to raise the level of religious discourse…a convincing argument for civil debate”, while The Oregonian described the film as “A peace offering, not a battle cry.” “A brilliant documentary,” exclaimed the San Antonio Express News, and the Dove Foundation said, “Five out of Five. We gladly encourage viewers to make use of this important film. It could be life changing.”

As discussion of religion floods the media, the rhetoric is divisive, hyper, and most often, angry. Dan decides to find out why the Gospel of Love is dividing America and brings the sensibilities of someone who is deeply concerned with how his faith is being represented by others. After talking with scores of men and women on streets all across the nation, as well as interviewing many well-known active participants in today’s “Culture Wars,” he realized that the public discussion of faith doesn’t have to be contentious.

With humor more common in a comedy-sketch program than a documentary, LORD, SAVE US provides a provocative, funny, and redemptive discussion that is sure to continue long after the credits run.

There have been over 100 screenings at colleges, churches and special theatrical engagements all over the country, conservative and liberal, Christian and non-Christian audiences, including: Yale Univ., Lewis & Clark College, Reed College, SW Missouri Baptist, Dallas Theological Seminary, Hollywood Theatre in Portland, Foursquare National Convention, Association of College Student Life Directors and the Mastermedia National Summit, just to name a few.

For more information on the film, please visit www.lordsaveusthemovie.com.

Monday, Feb 1st @ The Woods in Williamsburg

All PROCEEDS (INCLUDING DOOR, BAR REVENUE, BARTENDER TIPS) DONATED TO HAITI RESCUE RELIEF EFFORTS

New York has definitely had their share of disaster, which is why New Yorkers know how to help out when someone is in need. Ongoing benefits to help Haiti continue to roll out and hopefully everyone is attending as many as they can. Since Brooklyn knows how to throw a party with unbelievable performances, they are kicking it up a notch and jamming out an incredible night of ROCK + RESCUE.

WHAT: To help raise money in Brooklyn-fashion, ROCK + RESCUE is scheduled for February 1, 2010 at 7:30PM at The Woods in Williamsburg. A $10 minimum donation is required for a grand night of jam-packed performances by several bands, including:

Japanther
The Brooklynite punk rock band has recorded with several well known labels, completed nine tours, and has been featured in The New York Times, Vice Mag, New York Magazine, and hailed by Pitchfork as, “one the New York City’s most under rated acts…”

Das Racist
This rap duo has got all of NY talking about “Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell” and are the stars in the eyes of the Village Voice who said of the song, “either very, very meaningful, or completely meaningless.”

Fresh Kills
The music from this punk rock band is filled with hypnotic rhythms and vulnerable vocals, which caught the attention of Spin magazine, NY Daily News, and MetroMix who raved of the band, “New York’s best borough finally brings the noise.”

Columboid
This indie band describes their music as Ghettotech, Grime, and New Wave, a fusion which impressed Bmoremusic.net who raved that their style, “bridged together quite brilliantly.”

Cerebral Ballzy

This hardcore skate-punk band is comprised on 5 young, passionate, and energetic guys who have been noticed and praised by many, including Time Out NY, NY Press, and Village Voice. Vice Magazine excitedly assures us that they’re, “…one of the best things currently happening in the city, rock and roll, music, and chaotic forces.”

DJ Unicornicopia

The proceeds will go to the BSVAC (Bedford-Stuyvesant Volunteer Ambulance Corps), whose mission statement is “saving lives today…building lives for tomorrow”. BSVAC has offered their services to Haiti, and a group of over 100 EMTS and a dozen doctors, all familiar with the Haitian language and culture, arrived there on January 17, 2010. With more volunteers on stand-by, they have the personnel to help, but are in need of donations. You can go to this link to find out more about the charity: http://www.bsvac.org/index.html

Also at ROCK + RESCUE, there will be merchandise available for purchase, where these proceeds will also be donated to further help collect funds. Organizing the event are owners of The Woods and fellow Brooklynites, LauRenn Reed, and Eric Rodgers joining together for the love of Haiti.

SÉRAPHINE — Synopsis:

SÉRAPHINE is the true story of Séraphine Louis aka Séraphine de Senlis (Yolande Moreau), a simple and profoundly devout housekeeper who in 1905 at age 41 - self-taught and with the instigation of her guardian angel - began painting brilliantly colorful canvases. In 1912 Wilhelm Uhde (Ulrich Tukur; “The Lives of Others”), a German art critic and collector - he was one of the first collectors of Picasso and champion of naïve primitive painter Le Douanier Rousseau - discovered her paintings while she worked for him as a maid in his lodgings in Senlis outside Paris. Uhde became her patron and grouped her work with other naïve painters - the so-called “Sacred Heart Painters” - with acclaimed shows in Paris, elsewhere in Europe and eventually at New York’s MOMA. Director Martin Provost’s builds his story around the relationship between the avant-garde art dealer and the visionary cleaning lady forging a testament to the mysteries of creativity and the resilience of one woman’s spirit.

The Zaire ‘74 design is seen throughout the film, and worn by crew and musicians alike such as James Brown, Bill Withers and more. The SOUL POWER DVD will include a merchandise insert for exclusive Zaire ‘74 and Soul Power Gear.

“We’re bringing old good things back to life.” Says designer Deborah Goldstein who is also niece to festival and music producer Stewart Levine. “Like any great concert, we want a memento. The Zaire ‘74 design is just that thing.”

In 1974, the most celebrated American R&B acts of the time James Brown, BB King, Bill Withers, Celia Cruz, Miriam Makeba, and more joined the most renowned musical groups in Southern Africa for a three day long concert held in Kinshasa, Zaire dubbed “Zaire ‘74″. The dream of musician Hugh Masekela and producer Stewart Levine, this festival became a reality when combined with “The Rumble in the Jungle,” the epic fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman previously chronicled in the Academy-Award-winning documentary film “When We Were Kings.”

Soul Power, directed by Jeffrey Levy-Hinte and released by Sony Pictures Classics, is a verité documentary, entirely composed of footage shot at the legendary music festival and captures the unbridled glory of the performances.

On front - artwork originally created for Zaire ‘74. On back - the “new classic” Soul Power. Designed to look and feel like your favorite old tee. Super soft, high quality hand printed, distressed-treated hems. And in the “new vintage” 100% Organic Cotton Tee manufactured from wind powered energy sources.

In Woody Allen fashion, Director Emmanuel Mouret stars in his film as the hopeless teacher longing for the intimacy found in a kiss, and as an unanticipated relationship unfolds, he realizes there may be no such thing as a harmless kiss. Along with the film, Mouret has received accolades within the film circuit, comparing him to both Allen and Eric Rohmer. Orlando Weekly praised the Director, stating, “Mouret has made an expertly suspenseful romance.” Mouret stars alongside the lovely Virginie Ledoyen, Julie Gayet, Michaël Cohen, Stefano Accorsi, and Frédérique Bel.

“Shall We Kiss” – Synopsis:

Wry, observant and touching, SHALL WE KISS? is a very contemporary meditation on the myriad implications of a simple kiss. When Gabriel and Emilie meet by chance, he offers her a ride and they spend the evening talking, laughing and getting along famously. At the end of the night, Emilie declines Gabriel’s offer of “a kiss without consequences.” Emilie admonishes him that the kiss could have unexpected consequences, and tells him a story, unfolding in flashbacks, about the impossibility of indulging your desires without affecting someone else’s life.

New York City (December 8, 2009) - The critically acclaimed indie sensation and winner of the FIPRESCI Award at 2009 Cannes International Film Festival, AMREEKA makes its anticipated DVD debut this upcoming New Year. The heart-warming tale of an immigrant mother and her teenage son’s new life in the U.S. premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, and immediately garnered accolades via the film festival circuit. Newcomer Director Cherien Dabis took home the “Best Director” award at the Beirut International Film Festival and received widespread critical acclaim. USA Today stated, “The beauty of AMREEKA is in first-time director Cherien Dabis’ nimble touch.”

Bonus features on the disc include: Deleted Scenes; Bloopers; and special short film by the Director. AMREEKA will be available on DVD beginning January 12, 2010 by Virgil Films & Entertainment.

National Geographic Entertainment released the film, which was screened in over 40 markets nationwide this past Spring, and won numerous awards this year including: the Audience Award for ‘Best Feature’ at the New Orleans Middle East Film Festival; ‘Best Feature Film’ and ‘Best Screenplay’ at the Cairo International Film Festival; the Adrienne Shelley Award at the Nantucket Film Festival; the Audience Award for ‘Best Film’ at the Beirut International Film Festival; and was nominated for ‘Best Feature’ at the IFP Gotham Awards, as well as for the ‘Grand Jury’ award at Sundance Film Festival.

Entertainment Weekly praised AMREEKA’s Director, exclaiming, “the good humor, generosity, and love Dabis bestows on her characters in this assured first feature are uniquely hers - the mark of a talent to watch.” Christian Science Monitor hailed the film as “A charming, humorous spin on the classic immigrant story…” while the Los Angeles Times exclaimed the film is, “funny and playful.” The Austin Chronicle, favored the lead actress, stating, “Faour, in an Oscar-worthy performance, renders Muna in shades of love and hope.”

AMREEKA- Synopsis

AMREEKA chronicles the adventures of Muna, a single mother who leaves the West Bank with Fadi, her teenage son, with dreams of an exciting future in the promised land of small town Illinois. Told with heartfelt humor by writer-director Cherien Dabis in her feature film debut, AMREEKA is a universal journey into the lives of a family of immigrants and first-generation teenagers caught between their heritage and the new world in which they now live, and the bittersweet search for a place to call home.
