New York City (July 8, 2010) - Mad Ron‘s Prevues From Hell, the landmark blood-and-guts compilation featuring coming attractions from some 47 classic “grindhouse” horror flicks, is finally being unleashed onto DVD!

Made in 1987 at the height of the VHS boom, when anyone and everyone was popping anything and everything into their VCRs in search of ever-more twisted thrills and chills, Mad Ron‘s Prevues From Hell was a new kind of animal: an ambitiously researched and compiled anthology of trailers hyping cult grindhouse and drive-in theater favorites where the blood, guts and gore take center stage. Adding a colorful and campy element to the proceedings is the wraparound storyline, which concerns a loopy ventriloquist (Nick Pawlow) and his ghoulish dummy “Happy”, who are sitting in a run-down movie theater as demented projectionist “Mad Ron” (Ron Roccia) unspools one trailer after another featuring an unimaginable compendium of graphic guts and gore from the most notorious films of the Sixties and Seventies. As the ventriloquist and his dummy serve up a slew of silly remarks and off-color jokes, a cadre of blood-thirsty zombies and otherworldly creatures feast upon human body parts in other sections of the theater. Mmmmm….pass the Raisinettes!!!

A highly collectible piece in its VHS incarnation and long in-demand on DVD, Mad Ron‘s Prevues From Hell features trailers from such carnivorous cult picks as Africa: Blood and Guts (1966), Ilsa: She Wolf of The S.S. (1975), Three on a Meathook (1972) and Wes Craven’s Last House on the Left (1972), as well as such breakthrough audience favorites as George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead (1968), Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), Mario Bava’s Carnage (1971), and the most horrifying trailer of all time, I Drink Your Blood (1970). A complete list of all 47 films represented in Mad Ron‘s Prevues From Hell can be found below.

Directed by Jim Monaco, produced by Ron “Mad Ron” Roccia and James F. Murray Jr., and executive produced by Joe Amodei and Mike Meister, Mad Ron‘s Prevues From Hell also features some of the earliest make-up effects work by Jordu Schell (Avatar, The Mist, 300) and Jay Kushwara (TV’s “Monsters” and “Millennium”).

Incredibly entertaining extras include: deleted scenes, hilarious bloopers, movie poster gallery on all featured trailers, behind-the-scenes video/photo gallery, and more! You’d be crazy as hell if you don’t grab a copy of Mad Ron‘s Prevues From Hell, which will finally be available on DVD-and just in time for Halloween!!

Movie Trailers Included In Mad Ron‘s Prevues From Hell:

Africa: Blood and Guts (1966), Silent Night, Evil Night (aka Black Christmas) (1974), Blood and Lace (1971), Bloodeaters (1980), Bloody Pit of Horror (1965), Cannibal Girls (1973), House of Exorcism (1973), Beyond The Door (1974), Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things (1972), Color Me Blood Red (1965), Torso (1973), Deranged (1974), Lady Frankenstein (1971), Flesh Feast (1970), God Told Me To (1976), Night of the Bloody Apes (1968), I Dismember Mama / The Blood Spattered Bride (1974), I Drink Your Blood (1970), Ilsa: She Wolf of The S.S. (1975), Love Me Deadly (1973), Mad Doctor of Blood Island (1968), Night of Bloody Horror (1969), Night of the Living Dead (1968), Man From Deep River (1972), The Devil’s Nightmare (1971), Deep Red (1975), Carnage (aka Twitch Of The Death Nerve) (1971), The House That Screamed (1969), Silent Night, Bloody Night (1974), Sisters (1973), Tales from the Crypt (1972), The Corpse Grinders (1972), The Ghastly Ones (1968), The Last House On The Left (1972), The Mutations (1973), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), The Maniacs are Loose (aka The Thrill Killers) (1964), The Undertaker and His Pals (1967), The Vault of Horror (1973), The Wizard of Gore (1970), Three on a Meathook (1972), Horror on Snape Island (aka Tower of Evil) (1972), Two Thousand Maniacs (1964), Horror of the Zombies (1974), Orgy of the Living Dead (1972), The Diabolical Doctor Z (1967).

Chicago, IL (June 10, 2010) - He’s James Bond, Inspector Clouseau and Matt Helm all rolled into one…and he’s back to save the Free World one more time! We can only be talking about the womanizing, ethnically insensitive and wholly imbecilic French secret agent Hubert Bonisseur de la Bath, otherwise known as OSS 117. Cool, cunning and clever-or so he thinks!–and still completely clueless, the Pride of the French Secret Service returns in OSS 117: Lost in Rio. Following its 2010 national theatrical release in the U.S.’s top 25 markets, Music Box Films presents the DVD premiere of OSS 117: Lost in Rio, boasting impressive bonus features, on August 31st for the suggested retail price of $29.95.

Written and directed by Michel Hazanavicius, OSS 117: Lost in Rio is the much-demanded sequel to the 2006 satirical spy spoof OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies, which was a smash in its native France and a major cult hit in the U.S. OSS 117: Lost in Rio, once again stars French comedy sensation Jean Dujardin as the ever-absurd Agent OSS 117. In his latest outing, it’s 1967 and OSS 117’s mission finds him partnering with a sexy Israeli Mossad agent (Louise Monot) and traveling to swinging to Rio de Janeiro to track down a roll of elusive microfilm and capture a high-ranking Nazi officer (Rüdiger Vogler) who has gone into exile in Brazil.

OSS 117: Lost in Rio is a jubilantly designed and stylized love letter to a long-gone movie genre: the Sixties spy thriller. Embellished with such delicious Sixties-era flourishes as colorful jet-set locales, split-screen cinematography, a Bossa Nova-flavored retro score and state-of-the-decade fashions-not to mention a bunch of insanely overwrought gunfights and chase scenes and a healthy dollop of cleavage. It’s a movie that happily presents to audiences a ridiculously politically incorrect “hero” who could give Maxwell Smart and Austin Powers a run for their secret decoder rings!

Described as “a very funny French comedy of a variety that usually doesn’t make its way here” by the San Francisco Chronicle, proclaimed “larky, snarky fun” by the Philadelphia Inquirer and lauded as “naughty, silly, and wildly non-PC!” by The Guardian (UK), OSS 117: Lost in Rio is an exuberant, knowing and hysterical parody that demands to be seen.

Special features on the disc includes: a making-of featurette, blooper reel, and deleted scenes.

More information can be found on the film’s website at Music Box Films

Oss 117: Lost in Rio - Synopsis:
Twelve years after his Egyptian excursion in OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies, French operative Hubert Bonisseur de la Bath, otherwise known as Agent 117 (Jean Dujardin) returns for a new mission on the other end of the world. Sent to steamy Rio de Janeiro by his government to track down a roll of microfilm that contains a list of World War II French collaborators, France’s most famous secret agent must team up with sexy Israeli Mossad agent (Louise Monot) who’s determined to capture a high-ranking Nazi officer (Rüdiger Vogler) who has gone into exile in Brazil. The pair embarks on a death-defying adventure that takes them from the luxurious Amazonian rain forest to a bikini-filled Brazilian luxury hotel to a secret underground grotto to a climax atop Rio’s famed Corcovado Christ statue. And it’s all up to Agent 117, armed and abetted with his Sixties-styled chauvinism, ethnic insensitivity, wanton womanizing and overall cluelessness, to save the Free World from others who may very well be even more foolish than he is!

Chicago, IL (May 13, 2010) - There is no argument that Stieg Larsson’s best-selling Millennium Trilogy Series created a global phenomenon selling nearly 25 million novels in over 40 countries. It was just a matter of time that the film based on his wildly sensational books would create similar mass appeal. Now for the first time, home-viewing audiences can take home the most talked about film adaptation of the year with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Hailed as “mesmerizing” by USA Today and a “remarkable piece of work” by the Austin Chronicle, the disc will be packed with exciting bonus features* including interviews with lead actress, Noomi Rapace, and Director, Niels Arden Oplev; The Vanger Family Tree, and more. Music Box Films presents the DVD and Blu-ray disc premiere on July 6, 2010 for suggested retail price of $29.95 and $34.95 respectively.

As the highest grossing Swedish film in history, the film was also 2009’s highest-grossing European production. Directed by Niels Arden Oplev and starring Noomi Rapace as “Lisbeth Salander”, the film received three Swedish Guldbaggage Awards in 2009 for Best Picture, Audience Award and Best Actress in a Leading Role. It went on to receive an Audience Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and Best Narrative Feature Award at Portland International Film Festival.

Taking America by storm, the riveting foreign film garnered outstanding critical acclaim throughout the country and instantly became a smash hit within the independent circuit. The film is projected to be the highest grossing foreign language film in the U.S. in 2010, earning $5.7 million at the box office with six weeks remaining in theatres. Commended as, “a stylish thriller with real complexity, people with interesting faces, a sensational actress cast as an ambisexual Goth hacker heroine” by the Wall Street Journal, and “finely plotted, stylishly photographed and brilliantly acted” by the NY Post, “compelling” by Washington Post, and “devastating, suspenseful, and satisfying” by Paper Magazine. Avid readers, and fans alike, flooded theatres nationwide to see what everyone was talking about.

Music Box Films will release the second installment of the film trilogy, The Girl Who Played With Fire in theatres nationwide on July 2, 2010.

Author, Stieg Larsson was recognized as the second bestselling author in the world in 2008. The Millenium Series books include “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” “The Girl Who Played With Fire” and “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest.”

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo — Synopsis:

Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger clan. Her body was never found, yet her beloved uncle is convinced it was murder and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family. He employs disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) and the tattooed and troubled but resourceful computer hacker Lisbeth Salander (Rapace) to investigate. When the pair link Harriet’s disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from almost forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history. But the Vanger’s are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves.

New York City (May 12, 2010) - Virgil Films & Entertainment has announced today its acquisition of North American distribution rights to The Hungry Ghosts in association with Writer/Director, Michael Imperioli (HBO’s “The Sopranos”, The Lovely Bones). The film follows the intertwined stories of five New Yorkers drowning in a mental, physical or spiritual crisis over a desperate 36 hours in the Big Apple. The cast includes Steven Schirripa (HBO’s “The Sopranos”), Aunjanue Ellis (Men of Honor), Nick Sandow (Swimfan), Sharon Angela (HBO’s “The Sopranos”), and newcomer Emory Cohen. The company will present a limited theatrical run this summer followed by VOD & Cable Broadcast and finally a DVD debut in late August. The announcement was made today by Joe Amodei, President of Virgil Films & Entertainment.

The film premiered and opened at the 2009 Rotterdam International Film Festival and later screened at the Santa Barbara and Warsaw International Film Festivals. Producers are Diane Crespo (TV’s “Contested Streets”), Stefan Schaefer (Arranged) and Victoria Imperioli.

“Michael’s film features all the great elements of what we know and love,” says Amodei, “Comprised of an edgy script, an amazing cast, and great direction, it resonates the gritty appeal of early John Cassevettes and feels like it came right off the streets of NYC.”

“The term “Hungry Ghosts” comes from Tibetan Buddhism,” says Imperioli. “It describes a type of being that possesses a huge stomach, tiny neck and enormous appetites. I found it a fitting metaphor for the characters in our film; human beings under the influence of powerful desires that offer the illusion of wholeness and fulfillment, but in reality prove poisonous and take them further and further away from completion and connection.”

The acquisition was negotiated by Joe Amodei and the film’s sales representative, Ronna Wallace, Eastgate Pictures.

Virgil Films & Entertainment distributes feature film product in the theatrical feature film, documentary, special interest, and sports categories through partnerships with Sundance Channel Home Entertainment, ESPN and MLB Productions among others. The company recently partnered with CJ Entertainment and National Geographic Entertainment.

DVD Slated for July 2010 Release

New York City (April 29, 2010) - Along the same vein as Super Size Me, The Future of Food, and Food Inc, Virgil Films & Entertainment is taking an initiative to keep America healthy. The company has announced the acquisition of Chow Down, a thought-provoking documentary tackling the country’s #1 leading cause of death. The deal includes North American distribution rights of the DVD and is slated to be released July of 2010. The announcement was made today by Joe Amodei, President of Virgil Films & Entertainment.

Featuring in-depth conversations with many leading medical experts in the country including Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr., MD, Neal Barnard, MD, T. Colin Campbell, PhD, and David Katz, MD, MPH, to name a few, Chow Down hones in on cardiovascular disease and unearths astounding causes, substantiated prevention methods, and even ways to reverse the deadly disease with simple food choices.

“This is a very informative exposé which presents real cases with proven tactics and solid expert advice from great medical leaders,” says Amodei. “With the revelations in Chow Down, everyone can reduce the risk of heart disease, even those in late stages.”

“We set out to make a documentary that separates food fact from food fiction and wanted to know why, in the 21st century, chronic diseases account for 70 percent of deaths in America,” says co-director/co-producer, Julia Grayer. “Chow Down is the result of this journey and we are thrilled that Virgil Films believes in our entertaining and informative documentary.”

Co-directed and produced by Julia Grayer and Gage Johnston, the documentary uncovers the three factors that fatally impact our country’s health: the medical community’s allegiance to the status quo, the government’s allegiance to the food industry, and American’s allegiance to the cheap, convenient food.

Chicago, IL (April 20, 2010) -The North Face side of the Swiss Alps’ Eiger Mountain, also referred to as the “murder wall”, was once one of the most deadliest walls to scale, and in 1936, a small group of German mountain climbers decided to face the incredible challenge head-on without ever looking back. Bringing their story to life in the award-winning film, North Face, Director Phillip Stölzl has captivated audiences across the world with an epic tale that is “one of the best mountain climbing movies ever made” (Seattle Times) and “the most exhilarating thriller of the season” (East Bay Express). Winner of the German Film Critics Award for “Best Screenplay”, “Best Cinematography” and “Best Sound Design” in 2009, the film makes its nationwide debut with the DVD premiere presented by Music Box Films on May 11, 2010 for the suggested retail price of $29.95.

Hailed as a Critic’s Pick by the NY Times, Stephen Holden declared the film a “transfixing life-and-death adventure tale.” Shot on location, the story of the 1936 expedition gives viewers an up close look at the amazing true story of German mountaineers racing to the top of the deadly mountain. Filled with excitement and suspense, “This is a film done right by just about every measure.” (The Los Angeles Times) and “includes some of the most adroit and effective climbing sequences ever staged” (San Francisco Chronicle). The film features an all-star cast including: Benno Fuermann (Jerichow) and Johanna Wokalek (The Baader Meinholf Complex), and Ulrich Tukur (The White Ribbon, The Lives of Others)

The Seattle Times gave North Face “4 STARS!” exclaiming it was, “Perfectly cast, well-written and almost excruciatingly realistic at times” while the NY Daily News described it as “A genuinely gripping drama.”

North Face — Synopsis:

Based on a true story, North Face is a gripping adventure drama about a competition to climb the most dangerous rock face in the Alps. In 1936, Nazi propaganda urges German Alpinists to conquer the unclimbed north face of the Swiss massif, the Eiger, bringing two reluctant climbers, Toni Kurz (BENNO FÜRMANN) and Andi Hinterstoisser (FLORIAN LUKAS), to begin their daring ascent and attempt to scale the infamous rock face, often called the Murder Wall.

While preparing themselves at the foot of the North Face, Toni and Andi unexpectedly run into Luise (JOHANNA WOKALEK), the early love of Toni. Now a journalist, she has come with her boss Arau (ULRICH TUKUR), a loyal Nazi, to report about the first ascent. Toni begins the ascent of the North Face with Andi, closely followed by two Austrians Willy Angerer (SIMON SCHWARZ) and Edi Rainer (GEORG FRIEDRICH). All goes well at first as both rope teams make good headway but then the climbers lose their advantage over the mountain and the race against time and the forces of nature begins.

New York, NY (March 30, 2010) - Created and hosted by Oscar®-nominated filmmaker, Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me), FX’s most successful unscripted series, “30 Days” is making its way to home-viewing audiences. Now for the first time, presented by Virgil Films & Entertainment, the complete groundbreaking TV series will be available nationwide on a 6-disc collectible set. The show, which captivated over 2.4 million viewers each week with its innovative reality documentary-style program, was nominated for a Producer’s Guild Award for a Television Series or Special: Non-fiction, and received a GLAAD Media award for Outstanding Reality Program in 2006. The box set will be available on DVD May 18th with bonus features including Audio commentary by Morgan Spurlock.

“Its exciting for me to be working with Virgil Films to release the 30 Days Box Set,” says Morgan Spurlock. “I loved making this series and I am so glad that people can now experience and share all 18 episodes in one place.”

“Spurlock has an incredible talent of helping audiences open their eyes, and this series is a true epitome of that,” says Joe Amodei, President of Virgil Films & Entertainment. “Not only do Americans get exposure to different lifestyles and culture, but it also helps them understand each other a little bit better.”

The television series premiered on FX in 2005 to critical acclaim for placing individuals within radically different lifestyles contrary to their own culture, religion or beliefs for a total of thirty days. The Los Angeles Daily News called the series “compelling human drama” in its four-star review, while TV Guide said “30 Days” is “a million times smarter than most shows on TV.”

While Spurlock discusses relevant social issues and topics, the filmmaker also turned the cameras on himself each season. The premiere episode features Spurlock in “Minimum Wage” where he and his girlfriend experienced the struggles and hardship of everyday hardworking Americans earning minimum wage. He then went to “Jail” in the second season where he lived and was treated like an inmate under a phony sentencing. In his final season, Morgan was “Working in a Coal Mine” outside West Virginia where he endured first-hand dangers as a miner.

With episodes such as “Immigration”, “Pro-Life, Pro-Choice”, “Same Sex Parenting” and “Jail”, audiences get to see what it feels like to live in someone else’s shoes for 30 days.

“30 Days: The Complete Series” - Synopsis
The television series features a diverse group of participants, each given the opportunity to experience first-hand a world antithetical to their own comfortable existence. Each installment examines a different subject, explores topical issues and conducts fascinating social experiments. As each 30 Days participant learns about the lives and beliefs of others, viewers learn more about themselves.

The award-winning filmmaker, Morgan Spurlock received widespread critical acclaim with his debut film, Super Size Me, which received an Academy Award® nomination (Best Documentary, Features, Super Size Me, 2004). He also directed the acclaimed documentary, Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden? in 2008 and produced such hits as What Would Jesus Buy?, The Third Wave, and Chalk among others. He recently directed “The Simpsons’ 20th Anniversary Special — In 3-D! On Ice”
