Public expression of faith stirs up more controversy than inspiration, and following most recent examples of the tragedy in Haiti, the critically acclaimed documentary, LORD, SAVE US FROM YOUR FOLLOWERS is returning to theatres with the support of Salem Radio Networks.

Writer/Director, Dan Merchant, is putting on his bumper-sticker-clad jumpsuit once again while asking America to stop yelling at each other, and start conversing with one another. With tactful use of humor, his mission to get beyond the superficial bickering certainly got people thinking, and the film was awarded “Best Spiritual Documentary of 2008” by Beliefnet.com. Praised by USA Today as, “A humorous and heartfelt examinations of the culture wars”, LORD, SAVE US FROM YOUR FOLLOWERS opens in theatres, February 26^th.

After a successful run in 15 cities, Salem Radio Networks proudly presents another limited theatrical release of the powerful documentary in over 13 cities. There will also be a special sneak-preview tour with Dan Merchant in each opening city throughout the month of February. The film will make a number of new theatrical debuts including New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Washington, DC, San Francisco, Seattle, Cleveland, Minneapolis, and many others.

In addition, and to help kick off the highly anticipated DVD debut on April 20th, “Lord, Save Us TV – The Conversation,” a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, with comments, conversations, and audience reaction will premiere on Trinity Broadcasting Network, as well as an online premiere on the faith-based, family friendly network, Tangle.com.

About the Author/Director, DAN MERCHANT:

Merchant is an award-winning writer/director who began his career selling sketch comedy to the Seattle late night institution Almost Live!, before settling in at CBS affiliate KOIN-TV in Portland, Oregon where he won an IRIS award for We’re Makin’ Movies, and three Northwest Region Emmys for writing/producing The Dr. Wilderness Show and the original Bill Nye the Science Guy pilot. New York has definitely had their share of disaster, which is why New Yorkers know how to help out when someone is in need.  Ongoing benefits to help Haiti continue to roll out and hopefully everyone is attending as many as they can. Since Brooklyn knows how to throw a party with unbelievable performances, they are kicking it up a notch and jamming out an incredible night of ROCK + RESCUE.

WHAT: To help raise money in Brooklyn-fashion, ROCK + RESCUE is scheduled for February 1, 2010 at 7:30PM at The Woods in Williamsburg. A $10 minimum donation is required for a grand night of jam-packed performances by several bands, including:

Japanther
The Brooklynite punk rock band has recorded with several well known labels, completed nine tours, and has been featured in The New York Times, Vice Mag, New York Magazine, and hailed by Pitchfork as, “one the New York City’s most under rated acts…”

Das Racist
This rap duo has got all of NY talking about “Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell” and are the stars in the eyes of the Village Voice who said of the song, “either very, very meaningful, or completely meaningless.”

Fresh Kills
The music from this punk rock band is filled with hypnotic rhythms and vulnerable vocals, which caught the attention of Spin magazine, NY Daily News, and MetroMix who raved of the band, “New York’s best borough finally brings the noise.”

The proceeds will go to the BSVAC (Bedford-Stuyvesant Volunteer Ambulance Corps), whose mission statement is “saving lives today…building lives for tomorrow”. BSVAC has offered their services to Haiti, and a group of over 100 EMTS and a dozen doctors, all familiar with the Haitian language and culture, arrived there on January 17, 2010. SÉRAPHINE — Synopsis:

SÉRAPHINE is the true story of Séraphine Louis aka Séraphine de Senlis (Yolande Moreau), a simple and profoundly devout housekeeper who in 1905 at age 41 - self-taught and with the instigation of her guardian angel -  began painting brilliantly colorful canvases. In 1912 Wilhelm Uhde (Ulrich Tukur; “The Lives of Others”), a German art critic and collector - he was one of the first collectors of Picasso and champion of naïve primitive painter Le Douanier Rousseau - discovered her paintings while she worked for him as a maid in his lodgings in Senlis outside Paris.  Uhde became her patron and grouped her work with other naïve painters - the so-called “Sacred Heart Painters” - with acclaimed shows in Paris, elsewhere in Europe and eventually at New York’s MOMA. Director Martin Provost’s builds his story around the relationship between the avant-garde art dealer and the visionary cleaning lady forging a testament to the mysteries of creativity and the resilience of one woman’s spirit.
